Urbantech Accelerator

Urbantech Blox

Face-to-face engagement

The program is structured like a traditional accelerator with a 3-month onsite program, but unlike other accelerators, our end-goal is to create meaningful partnerships between startups and partners.

During the program, we will help you grow your startup and engage you with the partners of the program. After Demo Day, you will additionally have the opportunity to stick around for an extra 3 months.

WE DON’T TAKE EQUITY

This should be an enjoyable process for all parties, and we don’t want any barriers to keep you from joining the program. That’s why we don’t take any equity. Instead, we’ll give you €15.000 to join and to help you cover travel and living expenses while in Copenhagen.

All we require from your team is a commitment to the program and its partners. On top, we will offer several benefits, deals and free services.

We are looking for startups working within the following areas:

The Built Environment

Buildings, Inside & Out
Most of our lives are spent inside. This is where we live, work, learn and play. That’s why these built structures must help sustain a healthy and effortless way of life. We are interested in solutions where technology improves the time spent inside and around buildings.

Energy & Hyper Connectivity
Cities will continue to evolve with the way buildings and people connect in the future. However, the built environment creates many challenges for connecting efficiently. We are looking for technologies & services that enable the development of connected solutions.

Liveability
Urbanization and imposing climate changes require new collaborative models and community engagement. The digitally connected cities are challenged to find ways to enhance civic engagement and improve and retain a quality of life.

If your startup is solving an urban challenge outside of this scope, we still encourage you to apply.

Sub-Saharan Africa's economic recovery faces multiple risks

Since 2017, sub-Saharan Africa has been recovering synchronously with the global economic tide, but this year's recovery in the region has encountered multiple obstacles, and the growth performance and development prospects of various economies have also become polarized. International agencies lower growth forecast for this year The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently released the latest issue of "Economic Outlook for Sub-Saharan Africa" report, which reduced the economic growth forecast for this region to 3.2% in 2019, which is the same as the growth rate in 2018, which is higher than the IMF's April this year. The forecast is 0.3 percentage points lower. The IMF said that lowering expectations mainly reflects uncertainties in global growth, continued declines in crude oil exporting countries such as Nigeria and Angola, and weaker-than-expected growth in South Africa.
